Remember fall? Yeah, it's over now but a few weeks ago when we did this session it was amazing! You may remember the Tishhouse family from their wedding many years ago or their family session last year. We were in Ann Arbor for an awesome wedding you'll see soon so it was the perfect time to get together again! They have a whole new human this year too!

Sometimes, when I'm stuck in the house at my desk on very beautiful days, I post random mini session deals on Facebook for that evening in the Muskegon area just so I have a reason to get outside. It was just perfect out and Brennigan and Adam came up from Holland to a session at my favorite place, Hoffmaster!  The hoffmaster sessions have been really fun and I hope to do about a million more in my life. It's just the best!

It's always really fun when things come full circle. We shot Ashley and John Paul's engagement session at this house many years ago and now they are back with their little girl, Kate. To say she is adorable is the understatement of my life. I'm fairly certain she knows how cute she is... she must! She's such a little lady and has the best giggle. It's easy to tell this little girl is so loved and I just really enjoy seeing how much happiness kids bring to people.

The Bell Family // Cecilia 1 Year

What a year it has been for little Cecilia! I started photographing the Bell family when she was 3 months old and it's been great getting to know them and watching her grow. They came out to Muskegon for this one and we shot at Hoffmaster, my favorite place ever. She has sorta been a fairly serious baby but this session she was such a happy little goof. Her personality has shaped into such a little lady and it is always a lot of fun to experience all the things Bethany and Kurtis will do to make her smile and giggle.

The Foster Family // Hudson 3 Years

It blows my mind that this kid is turning 3 years in a week. It just seems so recent that he was a baby and now he is a real kid and it just weirds me out and makes me feel super old. I'm sure that feeling will only grow with time since I'll be photographing him for many years to come. It's also crazy that when he was born I was always like "giant baby!!" (even though he was smaller than me when I was born hahaha) and now I look back at his newborn photos in awe of how tiny he seems since he is so grown up now.

Shooting young families has become one of my favorite things to photograph lately. Weddings will always be a big part of my life, but as a secondary area of photography to get into, this just fits perfectly for me. Shockingly, I'm turning 30 this year. I spent my 20's shooting weddings and moving all over the country which sorta made time fly. Now, as we have settled down and are older, I've just got babies on my mind constantly and hopefully that will be part of our future. Until then, I'm vicariously living through my clients and I love watching their babies grow.

KALAMAZOO MINI SESSION FAVORITES // PART 2

KALAMAZOO MINI SESSION FAVORITES // PART 2

MORE kalamazoo mini sessions! Since they are all shot in the same area, it's interesting to me to see how everyone fits into the area and how they make it their own with their personalities. Speaking about personalities. Meet Dave Bunt. I quite enjoy people who are a bit nuts and totally confident in that fact. His very pregnant wife, Rachel must spend most of her life laughing because he is hilarious. The following image illustrates a pose where he probably felt the most comfortable during the session.

Kalamazoo Mini Session Favorites // Part 1

I want to blog parts of every mini session but man it's tough to keep these posts from being too big. The weather this past Saturday was amazing, it felt like spring! Since it was so nice out, I was able to move a couple of people from next weekend up to make the most of the beautiful day. These are some of my favorites from everyone that came out.

I am absolutely LOVING getting to shoot our past clients lately. Shaun and Kameya postponed their trip back home to come meet us in Grand Rapids for a family session. It's been about 6 years since we last saw them and they have since made this adorable human, Nathan. Their wedding was many years ago but we shall always fondly remember the highlight of randomly running into MC Hammer. We didn't run into any celebrities this time, but it was still a great time! :)

Grand Rapids Mini Session Favorites!

Grand Rapids Mini Session Favorites!

We had our first day of back to back sessions in Grand Rapids this past weekend and it was so much fun mixed with so much coldness. So I think those things even each other out?

It was a mix of old clients and new and it was great meeting everyone and seeing people again. I will for sure be offering mini sessions again next year. I have enjoyed this all so much!

Van Eerden Family // Mini Session

Van Eerden Family // Mini Session

These mini sessions are a blast. I love the adrenaline rush of working fast since it's only a 30 minute session and it keeps a good mojo going since there is no awkwardness because it's all so high energy. I absolutely love this session and this family is just so adorable. You'd certainly never know it from these photos, but little Henry is 6 months old and was born with cancer and in his very short life so far, has beat it and is doing great! Upon meeting them, I just would never have guessed he has been sick and gone through so much. He was so laid back, didn't cry once even though it was really cold and I was just super impressed with what a sweet baby he is.

The Foster's are back! If you ever want to see how my work has grown over the past 6 years, go look for all of their posts from our old blog (www.mudeyes.com). Search for keyword like "dave and lacey, the fosters, hudson" and you'll find all kinds of goodies. It seems like time just flies by and I can't believe they are pregnant with another baby. It feels like I was just doing Hudson's newborn photos like a month ago.

Josh and Emily were one of our first wedding clients many years ago. I have no idea where all of these years went but for them, they have this adorable little human, Evanlyn and another on the way! I remember when they got married, I wondered what their kids would look like because they are from such opposite backgrounds. It looks like as far as genetics go, Josh's are pretty darn strong, hah! Evalyn is his little twin.

Jake & Waylon // Muskegon Family Photographer

2014-10-18_0001 This is Jake and Waylon and they just turned one! I've shot plenty of one year olds, but may have underestimated two. Their mom deserves about a thousand awards a day to keep up with these two all day long. Just in the short time I spent with them during the session my head was spinning a little trying to keep up with them! So often I wish I had a photo from their perspective though. It's me in the middle surrounded by all their loved ones with toys, happy faces and dancing around to entertain them. The wonderfully embarrassing things parents and grandparents do for the little babies they love. :)

Haha! This one cracks me up. The different moods and personalities of these two is hilarious.

And lastly, this super serious one. He means business!!

The Gruss Family // Muskegon Family Photographer

1aGruss-Blog-0068 We absolutely adore the Gruss family. We shot Jon & Elisa's wedding about 6 years ago and now they have 3 little humans! They were here in Muskegon vacationing at Maranatha and we were so happy to hear from them and do a family session! They are just the most kind, down to earth people and we enjoyed this session probably just as much, if not more, than they did. :) We shot out at Hoffmaster state park which is one of my favorite places in Muskegon and I'm so happy with how these turned out. 2014-08-15_00892014-08-15_00902014-08-15_00912014-08-15_00922014-08-15_00932014-08-15_00952014-08-15_00942014-08-16_00012014-08-16_00022014-08-16_00032014-08-16_00042014-08-16_00052014-08-16_00062014-08-16_00072014-08-16_00082014-08-16_00092014-08-16_00102014-08-16_00112014-08-16_00122014-08-16_00132014-08-16_00142014-08-16_00152014-08-16_00162014-08-16_0017 Well I have to make a comment on this one, her face is hilarious! I have no idea what she is so horrified over but I feel like this is a truly priceless moment. :) 2014-08-16_00202014-08-16_00192014-08-16_00212014-08-16_00222014-08-16_00232014-08-16_00242014-08-16_00252014-08-16_00262014-08-16_00282014-08-16_00302014-08-16_0031

Maternity to 1 Year // The Fiddler Family

Renn1YearBook_WEBFull Album Slideshow: http://www.gauperphoto.com/slideshows

It's hard to believe this day is here. I started this project back in 2011 and since I did it as a gift, it kept getting pushed to the bottom of my list since I had other paid work to handle first. This winter, I worked for an entire week to get it all finished and I'm so incredibly proud of this book. It might be the project I am most proud of in my career so far. I am getting an actual physical sample of the book printed but have not ordered it yet and well, I got impatient and wanted to share it now. :)

We shot Hope and Evan's wedding in 2010 and the following year, they were pregnant. So we started on this journey photographing them at every milestone. Maternity, Newborn, 3 months, 7 months and a year. It's so cool to see them grow as a family and to see what new thing's Renn has learned since our last session. Their newborn photos were taken around their first apartment and his 3 month were at their first home which is where he will grow up. Having photos taken in a place that is personal to you has a lot of value which is why I love in home sessions. Your surrounded by all of your things that are important to you and in a place that feels comfortable. It's really the perfect setting.

We also ventured out to the park and such as he got older and enjoyed those sorts of things, but it's still another place that is natural and fun.

I wish I was a good at sales and could say all kinds of magical sales person words that make people feel things and want to invest in them but...for anyone who knows me, I am not that person. I just spew out words. All I can say is how highly I value this work and how much I hope other people want to have a book like this as well because I would love to continue doing this.

Also, Hope and Evan and pregnant with another boy! I hope this book will be a great memory for their family of when their family was just the three of them, getting their first house and figuring out parenthood.
